Home staging is the process of preparing a home for the market so that it appeals to a broad range of potential buyers and therefore sells quickly and for maximum profit.  For occupied homes this will include re-arranging, re-purposing and sometimes removal of existing furniture/accessories, de-cluttering, de-personalizing and neutralizing.  Often, additional furniture and/or accessories will have to be brought in to complete the look.  For vacant homes, staging will mean the rental/purchase of suitable furniture and accessories to make the house look homey and appeal to the emotions of a buyer.

It is understandable that many owners have an emotional attachment to their home.  They have probably made lots of good memories there and likely have put lots of love, labour (and money!) into making it their own.  But when a home goes on the market it becomes a commodity competing with similar products (other homes).

That's where home stagers can make a huge difference.  A stager is NOT emotionally attached to your home, no matter how beautiful and tastefully decorated it may be.  A stager can have an objective view of the house and look at it as prospective buyers would.  Stagers also often know what is being offered in the competition and can prepare your home accordingly.
